US Dollar Firm Amid Geopolitical Tensions in Middle East

The US dollar held its sharpest gain in a week today, amid concerns over the situation in the Middle East.

The US dollar index rose about 0.5% overnight to 101.2, its largest rise since 25 September 2024.

Gold prices eased today as the US dollar held firm, while investors looked for more US economic data for further cues on upcoming rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Spot gold was down 0.5 percent at USD 2,649.17 per ounce.
