China expressed its readiness to mediate in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia during a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in the southern city of Guangzhou today. The Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, said that China supported all efforts that are conducive to peace and was willing to "play a constructive role" in ending the conflict and resuming peace talks, according to Chinese sources. China believes that all conflicts must ultimately be resolved at the negotiating table, Wang reportedly said. Recently, both Ukraine and Russia have signalled to varying degrees that they are willing to enter into negotiations. According to Chinese sources, Kuleba told Wang that Ukraine was ready to enter into negotiations with Russia with the aim of achieving a just and lasting peace. Kuleba also reportedly said that Ukraine had "carefully studied" a peace plan proposed by China and Brazil. Source: Oman News Agency
