Muscat: As many 196 doctors from various health institutions in the Sultanate of Oman recently joined a specialized training programme being conducted by Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) during the current academic year 2024/2025. The batch includes 60 doctors from internship programmes and 5 doctors from the Royal Hospital’s local fellowship programmes (paediatric intensive care), the University Medical City’s department of genetic medicine and adult blood diseases (Sultan Qaboos University Hospital) and Al Nahda Hospital’s department of ear medicine and surgery. With the aim of facilitating the integration of doctors into the academic and training environment, a number of interactive meetings will be held over the next few months between new doctors, training programme managers, members of educational committees and faculty members. The meetings will be held at the OMSB’s headquarters or at training centres accredited by the OMSB like hospitals of the Ministry of Health (Royal Hospital, Khoula Hospita l, Al Nahda Hospital, Al Masarra Hospital, the National Centre for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Hospital, Nizwa Hospital, Al Rustaq Hospital, and Sohar Hospital), as well as the "Hospital of Medical City for Military and Security Services" and the University Medical City. OMSB is the leading body in the field of advanced medical education in the Sultanate of Oman. It offers internationally accredited programmes from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in the United States of America.
