HM The Sultan Issues 4 Royal Decrees.

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued four Royal Decrees, marking significant developments in the administration of national records and judicial appointments. According to Oman News Agency, Royal Decree No. (51/2024) establishes the National Records Centre, which will operate within the Royal Oman Police's organizational structure. It will absorb all resources and personnel from the Electronic Census of Population, Housing, and Establishments 2020 Project. The Inspector-General of Police and Customs is tasked with implementing the decree's provisions, and any conflicting directives are nullified. Royal Decree No. (52/2024) enacts the National Records Law, mandating the Inspector-General of Police and Customs to issue regulations following the Council of Ministers' approval. Existing regulations will remain unless they conflict with the new law. The decree will be published in the Official Gazette and take effect the day after its issuance. In another significant move, Royal Decree No. ( 53/2024) appoints Omar bin Said bin Omar Al Kathiri, previously the Sultanate's Ambassador to Spain, as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. This decree also takes immediate effect upon publication in the Official Gazette. Finally, Royal Decree No. (54/2024) announces the appointment of 23 new judges to the Supreme Court. The list of appointees includes Mohammed bin Said bin Khalfan Al Yahya'ee, Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al Mahrouqi, and others, with the decree being published and enforced immediately.
