Muscat: The total number of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,728,931 by the end of September 2024. Vehicles with private registration made up a significant portion, accounting for 79.6% of the total, equating to 1,376,221 vehicles. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle registrations amounted to 251,305. According to Oman News Agency, the data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) also highlighted that taxi vehicles numbered 28,174, and rental vehicles totaled 37,890. Government vehicles registered stood at 11,849, while motorbikes accounted for 7,534. The statistics further detailed that driving school vehicles numbered 5,247, and vehicles with temporary registration, including those for temporary inspection, export, and import, were 8,575. Additionally, the number of tractors registered stood at 1,256, and vehicles with diplomatic registrations numbered 880. In terms of vehicle color preferences, white emerged as the most popular, with 735,599 vehicles, followed by s ilver with 222,890, and gray with 166,549 vehicles. The registration data also revealed trends based on engine capacity: vehicles with engine capacities between 1,500 and 3,000 ccs numbered 939,398, those between 3,001 and 4,500 ccs totaled 386,743, and vehicles with engine capacities less than 1,500 ccs amounted to 138,251. Additionally, vehicles designed to be towed or without an engine numbered 48,083. Vehicle registrations were also categorized by weight, with those weighing less than 3 tons totaling 1,568,048. Vehicles weighing over 10 tons numbered 72,674, while those weighing between 3-7 tons and 7-10 tons stood at 50,115 and 38,094, respectively.
