Muscat: Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, today received Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE official is on a visit to the Sultanate of Oman aimed at enhancing relations between the two countries in various fields.
According to Oman News Agency, during the meeting, Al Maawali emphasized the depth of Oman-UAE bilateral relations and the necessity of expanding cooperation in legislative fields, among other areas. The discussions highlighted the significance of exchanging views on several regional and international issues and coordinating the two countries' positions on these matters.
The meeting underscored the importance of supporting joint coordination between the Omani Shura Council and the UAE Federal National Council through parliamentary diplomacy. The leaders also explored options for activating modern technologies and artificial intelligence applications to support legislative work. The UAE official and his accompanying delegation toured the departments of Oman Council, noting its distinctive architectural design inspired by Omani heritage.
The visiting delegation was briefed on the use of modern technologies in managing sessions and implementing electronic voting on topics of the Council's agenda. Later, the delegation visited the Oman Council Library. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, members of the Council, and Mohammed Nakhira Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Sultanate of Oman.
