SEZAD Introduces Duqm Now Forum

Duqm: The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) has launched Duqm Now, a quarterly forum designed to bring together visionaries, doers, and decision-makers from across the nation. This innovative platform, supported by Duqm Quarries and the Development Bank, aims to transcend traditional networking by providing actionable insights and fostering connections that can transform ambitious plans into business realities.

According to Oman News Agency, the inaugural session is scheduled for January 29, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Duqm. With Oman setting a goal to generate 30% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, this event will focus on how businesses of all sizes can capitalize on opportunities within one of Oman's rapidly evolving sectors. The forum will feature an expert panel comprised of key industry leaders.

Investment in clean energy has intensified since 2020, particularly in renewable power, grids, and storage. In Europe, small and medium-sized enterprises in the renewable energy sector have reported an average annual revenue increase of 15% over the past five years, driven by strong market demand and supportive policies. SEZAD's Integrated Energy Valley provides the necessary infrastructure, strategic location, and support services, enabling both local and international businesses to engage in the expanding clean energy industry and participate in the global transition towards sustainable energy.

Eng. Ahmed Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, described Duqm Now as a well-structured platform for learning and growth. He emphasized that the forum will bring together top experts to offer actionable insights on relevant themes. Each session is designed to deliver transformative ideas that attendees can use to enhance leadership, strengthen teams, and expand businesses. The sessions aim to create a cohesive learning experience where knowledge is built upon progressively.

Eng. Ibrahim Al Hasni, Managing Director of Duqm Quarries, stated that Duqm Now represents an investment in the future of business in Oman. As part of the SEZAD community, he believes these quarterly events will assist businesses of all sizes in exploring new directions, forming partnerships, and seizing the opportunities that Duqm presents.

In addition to the discussions, Duqm Now will offer attendees the chance to connect with peers, industry experts, and potential partners. A podcast series will share key takeaways with a broader audience, reinforcing SEZAD's role as a hub for innovation and investment.

The four sessions planned for 2025 align with Oman Vision 2040, covering topics such as education-industry collaboration, circular economy practices, and advancements in petrochemicals. This initiative demonstrates SEZAD's commitment to fostering enterprise and encouraging innovative thinking. Eng. Akaak concluded that Duqm Now aims to unite the tenant community and stakeholders while providing forward-looking entrepreneurs and potential investors with insights into current opportunities at SEZAD.
