Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has imported more than 428,000 heads of live animals to meet consumer needs for red meat this season. The consignment includes 29,092 heads of cattle and 399,357 heads of sheep and goats, indicating a significant effort to bolster local meat supplies. According to Oman News Agency, the livestock imports are conducted in coordination with specialized companies, ensuring a streamlined import process. The Veterinary Quarantine Centre plays a crucial role in this initiative by implementing measures to ensure that the imported animals are free from contagious diseases, thus maintaining public health and safety standards.
