Beirut: Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, expressed the UAE's hope for a ceasefire and peace in Ukraine following the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Gargash wrote on his X account "The international system aspires to stability and an end to wars, and dialogue is the best way to resolve conflicts. The protracted Ukrainian war has exacerbated instability and claimed thousands of lives. With its wise diplomacy, the UAE played a pivotal role in 16 prisoner exchange mediations between Russia and Ukraine, resulting in the release of more than 4,300 prisoners."

He concluded by saying, "We hope that President Donald Trump's efforts toward a ceasefire and peace will be successful."
