Salalah: The total number of passengers traveling through Omani airports reached approximately 8,366,273 by the end of July 2025, marking a 1.3% decrease compared to the same period last year, when the total was 8,478,607 passengers.
According to Oman News Agency, preliminary data from the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) show that Muscat International Airport received 7,453,204 passengers through the end of last July, a 1.5% decrease from the 7,569,755 passengers during the corresponding period in 2024. The number of flights at the same airport also fell by 5.9%, totaling 53,170 flights compared to 56,498 during the same period last year.
In contrast, passenger numbers at Salalah Airport increased by 5.2%, reaching 870,616 by the end of July 2025, up from 827,486 passengers during the same period in 2024. The number of flights also rose by 1.4%, reaching 5,881 compared to 5,801 flights by the end of July 2024. Meanwhile, Sohar Airport experienced a decline in air traffic, with passenger numbers dropping by 85.3% to only 6,831 by the end of last July, compared to 46,578 in the same period last year. The number of flights also decreased to 130, down from 384 by the end of July 2024.
Duqm Airport showed a balanced performance, with passenger numbers increasing by 2.4% to 35,622 by the end of July 2025, up from 34,788 by the end of July 2024. However, the number of flights saw a slight decrease of 0.6%, with 360 flights recorded by the end of July 2025, compared to 362 flights during the same period last year.
Statistics indicate that Omanis were the most frequent travelers on flights arriving at and departing from Muscat International Airport in July 2025, with a total of 210,239 passengers (96,858 arrivals and 113,381 departures). This was followed by Indian nationals, with a total of 186,402 passengers (108,270 arrivals and 78,132 departures), and then Pakistani nationals, with a total of 47,777 passengers (20,411 arrivals and 27,366 departures).
