Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, has embraced the regional expansion agreement of the Cruise Arabia Alliance with the inclusion of "Cruise Saudi" and "Qatar Tourism." This initiative seeks to strengthen the cruise tourism sector in the region, positioning the Gulf as a leading destination for cruise tourism.
According to Oman News Agency, the agreement aims to leverage the maritime capabilities of the Gulf region as a sustainable global hub for cruise trips, connecting numerous destinations. The Cruise Arabia Alliance unites partners in a joint commitment to broaden cruise tourism, develop infrastructure, enhance marketing initiatives, invest in ports, and establish standards for operational excellence across the cruise sector.
Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, highlighted that the collaboration and alliance with Cruise Arabia, along with the expansion of member countries, will contribute significantly to Oman's cruise tourism sector. He emphasized the programs and initiatives these countries will offer, ensuring diverse options and tourism patterns for visitors. Additionally, the Sultanate of Oman is adopting global standards and practices to advance its cruise ship tourism sector, with targeted plans and promotional campaigns to showcase Oman's tourism attributes. Oman is also working with alliance countries to provide distinctive packages and programs to meet various tourist aspirations.
Khalid Al Azri, Director of the Tourism Patterns Department at the Ministry, stated that Oman's strategic location makes it a key maritime destination. The country aims to create a sustainable and appealing maritime tourism sector for ships of all sizes while exploring new routes.
The expanded Cruise Arabia alliance highlights the GCC region's commitment to growing the marine tourism sector, particularly with economic growth and increasing travel options contributing to rising demand. The partners aim to provide integrated services, solidifying a shared vision for the future of maritime tourism and promoting the region globally.
