Muscat: The seventh edition of the Oman Agrofood exhibition was officially inaugurated in Muscat today under the patronage of Sheikh Al Fadl bin Mohammed Al Harthy, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers. The premier event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. Hosted over three days at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the exhibition stands as a pivotal forum for cultivating strategic commercial partnerships and stimulating both local and international investment. It offers a comprehensive platform for exhibitors and visitors to explore the most advanced technologies, innovations, and equipment within the sectors of agriculture, fisheries, and food production.
According to Oman News Agency, this year's edition is graced by the presence of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria as the guest of honour. The event boasts participation from over 20 Algerian companies specializing in the agri-food and fisheries value chains, alongside more than 20 other nations, including the Sultanate of Oman, and a wide array of international participants from across the globe.
Eng. Yahya bin Khalfan Al Hadidi, Director of the Marketing Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, commented on the significance of the exhibition. He stated: "This year's edition is distinguished by the participation of more than 20 countries, presenting a spectrum of food and agricultural products, as well as the equipment essential for enhancing value-added production."
He elaborated, "The exhibition plays a role in strengthening the Omani market. It serves to highlight and promote Omani products while acquainting Omani producers and marketers with global breakthroughs in the food industry, agricultural technology, aquaculture, and marine fisheries."
He emphasized that the event provides an opportunity for Omani business leaders to network with international companies and to capitalize on the commercial prospects that arise between local and global enterprises.
