Al buraimi: The Municipal Council in Al Buraimi Governorate, in its first meeting for the year 2026, today discussed the latest developments in service and planning topics within the framework of following up on the progress of municipal work and elevating the level of services provided in the governorate. The meeting was chaired by Sayyid Dr. Hamad Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Municipal Council.
According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Dr. Hamad affirmed the improvement witnessed in Al Buraimi Governorate's economic growth indicators and the sustainability of developmental performance, amidst growing economic momentum and increasing investment activity. This reflects the effectiveness of institutional integration between the concerned authorities and contributes to raising the level of municipal and developmental services provided, in alignment with sustainable development goals.
The meeting approved minutes of the Municipal Council's tenth meeting for the year 2025. The council reviewed updates on the work of paving internal roads in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi and discussed several topics related to work progress and implementation quality, according to the specified schedule.
Furthermore, specialists from the Heritage and Tourism Department in the governorate presented a visual presentation of the proposals for reviving the old Hamasa Souq (market) in the Hamasa area of Al Buraimi. These proposals resulted from graduation projects by a number of students from Al Buraimi University.
The council also reviewed a number of committee minutes and responses received from the relevant authorities, including the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee, the Governorate Development and Growth Committee, and the Social Affairs Committee for the year 2026. The council also touched on a field visit report on the internal road paving works in the Al-Khadra area in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi.
