Muscat: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) today signed continental support agreements for several Omani athletes as part of an integrated framework of initiatives and programs aimed at elevating technical performance levels and enabling athletes to compete in international events with high efficiency and readiness. The signing ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Azzan Qais Al Said, Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, in the presence of the male and female athletes benefiting from the program.
According to Oman News Agency, the list of athletes includes Hamza Abdullah Al Jabri from Oman Athletics Association; Omaima Harib Al Hanai and Nebras Mohammed Al Touqi from Oman Taekwondo Committee; Mohammed Ahmed Al Ghilani from Oman Modern Triathlon Committee; Al Harith Salim Al Harthy from Oman Fencing Committee; and Amer Salim Al Khanjari from Oman Weightlifting Committee. This selection underscores the diversity of sports benefiting from the program and the Committee's commitment to including as many individual sports as possible.
The event featured a short film providing a brief overview of the athletes selected for the program, highlighting their sporting careers and most notable achievements. Subsequently, the agreements were signed between Oman Olympic Committee and each athlete within the list of beneficiaries.
It is noteworthy that the Continental Support Program is one of the programs supported by International Olympic Solidarity. It aims to enable National Olympic Committees to prepare their athletes for continental and international participation by providing integrated technical and financial support, including the implementation of training camps, long-term preparation programs, and participation in competitions within a four-year plan.
The signing of these agreements represents a significant milestone in the preparation of Omani athletes and a qualitative step toward enhancing their readiness to compete in continental and international arenas, achieving positive results that meet the aspirations of Omani sports and raising the flag of the Sultanate of Oman high in various participations.
