Geneva: At least 10 people died as heavy rains lashed southern and central China, causing severe flooding, Chinese authorities said today. According to Oman News Agency, the China Meteorological Administration indicated that regions including Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Hainan face a high risk of rain-related disasters, including landslides, flash floods, and urban flooding. The heavy downpour has put these areas on high alert as authorities have launched emergency response operations in several affected locales. Chinese media reported that the fatalities include at least six people who died after a truck carrying 15 passengers fell into a river in the Guangxi region amid heavy rainfall. In addition, three others lost their lives in flash floods that swept through a low-lying village in Hubei, while another individual was killed in Hunan province. The situation remains critical as emergency teams work to mitigate the impact of the floods and prevent further casualties. Th e continuous rainfall poses significant challenges for rescue operations, with authorities urging residents in vulnerable regions to remain cautious and adhere to safety advisories.
