Muscat: The renewal of the coordination and cooperation protocol between the Maritime Security Centre (MSC) and the European Union's "Operation Atalanta" was signed today at the centre. The agreement aims to enhance maritime security and ensure safer navigation in the region.
According to Oman News Agency, the renewal of the protocol was signed on behalf of the Maritime Security Centre by Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman and Chairman of the Maritime Security Committee. Vice Admiral Ignacio Villanueva, Operation Commander of the EU NAVFOR "Operation Atalanta", signed on behalf of the European Union's "Operation Atalanta".
The signing ceremony was attended by Commodore Abdullah Ali Al Hajri, Head of the Maritime Security Centre, along with several senior officers from both sides. The renewed protocol is expected to strengthen collaboration and coordination in various maritime security operations, addressing challenges such as piracy and illegal activities at sea.
