Muscat: The Ministry of Information, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of Al Buraimi, today conducted an awareness session on the Media Law issued under Royal Decree No. 58/2024 and its Executive Regulations. The session aimed to enhance awareness of media practices and freedom of expression, regulate the media licensing mechanism, clarify the rights and obligations of media professionals, and establish the controls governing the exercise of media activities.
According to Oman News Agency, the session targeted social media content creators and influencers, media professionals in government entities, and owners of private media institutions operating in Al Buraimi Governorate. The Executive Regulations of the Media Law contribute to fostering an environment conducive to the growth and development of media institutions, opening new horizons for content creation and media production. They also play a key role in protecting intellectual property rights and strengthening confidence between the media and the public.
The Executive Regulations embody a balanced approach between freedom of expression and the commitment to responsibility and professionalism, while safeguarding national identity. The session included an interactive panel discussion in which attendees engaged with the chapters and articles of the Executive Regulations, exploring the practical application of media work in accordance with the regulatory controls and licensing procedures.
