Brussels: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the third EU-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) High-Level Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation, held in Brussels today. The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al Maskari, who emphasized the importance of sustained Gulf-European dialogue and strengthening strategic partnerships for shared security and prosperity.
According to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Ahmed underscored the solidarity of the GCC states in confronting current challenges. He highlighted Oman's vision on safeguarding regional security and stability, reiterating the nation's commitment to freedom of maritime navigation and the safety of international trade routes in the Strait of Hormuz. This commitment aligns with international law and the law of the sea.
He also mentioned Oman's ongoing cooperation with the International Maritime Organization to enhance maritime navigation safety and support both regional and international stability. The forum addressed a range of regional and international issues, exploring ways to strengthen cooperation between the GCC and the European Union in various fields to consolidate security, stability, and sustainable development.
The forum was attended by Ru'a Issa Al Zedjali, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Belgium and Head of the Omani Mission to the European Union.
