Muscat: The Governorate of Dhofar signed a cooperation agreement today with the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation and the Dhofar Tourism Company. The agreement aims to support and enhance Arabian horse beauty championships in the Dhofar Governorate by investing in the governorate's elements and capabilities, establishing them as a fundamental event linked to Dhofar's seasons. According to Oman News Agency, the agreement was signed by HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. Signing on behalf of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation was Sayyid Munther Saif Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Federation, and on behalf of the Dhofar Tourism Company was Fatima Yusuf Al Ibrahim, Chairperson of the Company's Board of Directors. The Governor of Dhofar affirmed that the cooperation agreement is the result of a partnership, cooperation, and integration between the Dhofar Governorate and the relevant authorities that began in 2024. It aligns with a comprehensive strategy aimed at investing in the governora te's elements and advantages to achieve tourism and economic attraction, as well as sustainable economic diversification throughout the year. The Governor explained that the Dhofar Governorate looks forward to this agreement serving as a fundamental nucleus and a starting point for an investment movement and an integrative industry to enhance this sport, ultimately yielding the desired benefits for the community and the local economy. The agreement serves to consolidate the position of the Dhofar Governorate as a leading regional and international destination for equestrian sports and Arabian horse beauty. This will be achieved by activating institutional integration to invest in the governorate's elements to support and develop the sport of Arabian horse beauty. It also aims to maximize the economic and tourism impact of the championships and events by attracting participants and visitors, preserving the national heritage, and enhancing the symbolism of the Wilayat of Mirbat associated with Arabian horses. Furthermore, the agreement encompasses efforts to qualify and support local capabilities, as well as Arabian horse owners and breeders, thereby ensuring the sustainability of the sport of Arabian horse championships in the governorate.
