Muscat: The fourth round of political consultations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was held in Muscat today. The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, chaired the Sri Lankan delegation.
According to Oman News Agency, the session focused on reviewing the bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring avenues to enhance cooperation in economic, investment, tourism, and cultural fields. The discussions also included an exchange of views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Both parties stressed the necessity of ongoing consultation and coordination between their foreign ministries. They expressed a commitment to exploring new partnership opportunities that serve mutual interests, enhance security and stability, and promote cooperation at regional and international levels.
The consultation session saw participation from several officials from both Oman and Sri Lanka, indicating a strong collaborative effort to strengthen ties between the two nations.
