Dollar Recovers, Yen Retains Gains After 0.2% Decline

Tokyo: The US dollar index rebounded today from its lowest point in a month and a half, recovering from the losses it faced yesterday following an intervention aimed at purchasing the yen. Meanwhile, the yen maintained most of its gains achieved due to last week's joint intervention by Tokyo and Washington.

According to Oman News Agency, during Asian trading, the yen was 0.2% at 157.55 per dollar, having previously reached a three-month high of 155.20. Despite this, it remained above its 40-year low of 163.99, recorded in July. In other currency movements, the euro remained stable against the yen, lingering near an eight-month high at 181.19 yen, while the British pound stood at 211.60 yen. The euro also held steady at $1.1508 after it hit a one-and-a-half-month high of $1.1559, and the British pound traded at $1.3425.

The US dollar index managed to recover from its recent low, reaching 100 points. In other currency shifts, the Australian dollar increased by 0.3% to $0.7019, while the New Zealand dollar saw a slight decline of 0.1% to $0.5867. Additionally, the Chinese yuan remained largely stable against the dollar, buoyed by robust Chinese exports.
