Omani Novelist Mohammed Al Araimi Passes Away at 72

Muscat:Omani novelist Mohammed bin Eid Al Araimi has died at the age of 72, marking the end of a significant era in scholarly communication. According to Oman News Agency, Al Araimi was a respected author known for his novels, short stories, and translations. Born in 1954 in Wadi Al Murr, Wilayat of Sur in the South A'Sharqiyah Governorate, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toledo in the United States in 1981. Throughout his career, Al Araimi published several notable works, including 'Hazz Al Qayd' (The Squeeze of the Shackle), 'Bayn Al Sahra W'Al Maa' (Between Desert and Water), 'Madhaaq Al Sabr' (The Taste of Patience), 'Shahadah min Zaman Al Harb' (Testimony from a Time of War), and 'Qaws Quzah' (Rainbow). He also translated George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' into Arabic. In 2023, Al Araimi was honored with an award from the Omani Society for Writers and Literati in recognition of his literary contributions and innovative writing style.
