Muscat:According to Oman News Agency, the dollar remained close to a two-month high, supported by fluctuating oil prices and a rapid increase in Treasury yields. However, the gains were restrained as traders anticipated upcoming US data that could provide insights into the Federal Reserve's interest rate strategy.
The euro was near its weakest in three months, trading at $1.1367 following remarks from the European Central Bank's chief about taking measured steps to address inflation. Meanwhile, the British pound held steady at $1.3248, close to a three-month low.
The dollar index, which tracks the US currency against a basket of other currencies, showed a slight increase to 101.2 and was on course for a 1.8% rise this month, marking its best performance since June. In other currency movements, the Australian dollar and the New Zealand dollar both dipped by 0.1%, trading at $0.7013 and $0.5660, respectively. The Japanese yen weakened slightly to 157.40 per dollar, reversing some of its earlier gains, while the offshore yuan remained stable at 6.71 per dollar.
