Oman Engages in GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Meeting

Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 126th meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee in Bahrain.

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and included representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Royal Oman Police, and the Tax Authority.

The committee discussed various topics such as recommendations from the GCC Undersecretaries of Ministries of Finance Committee, updates from the GCC Committee of Governors of Central Banks, the GCC Joint Market Committee, the Customs Union Authority, and the GCC Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Administrations. They also reviewed progress on free trade agreement negotiations between GCC countries and other international parties, as well as the status of the GCC Joint Market.

In addition, Sultan Salim Al Habsi and Ahmed Jaafar Al Musalmi, the Governor of the Central Bank of Oman, attended a joint meeting with the GCC Ministers of Finance, Central Bank Governors, and the Secretary-General of the GCC alongside the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. The meeting focused on examining the financial and economic prospects and developments in GCC countries.

Oman's involvement in these discussions is part of its commitment to furthering financial and economic integration among GCC nations, promoting economic stability, and staying aligned with regional and global developments.
