Oman and Kazakhstan Pledge to Enhance Trade and Investment Ties

Muscat:The Sultan of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, made a state visit to Kazakhstan, marking a historic milestone as it was the first such visit from an Omani Sultan to the country. The visit, which took place on October 5 and 6, 2026, was at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to Oman News Agency, during the visit, both leaders discussed ways to expand and diversify bilateral trade and emphasized the potential for enhancing economic cooperation. They agreed to take measures to broaden the range of exchanged goods and to address existing trade barriers, thereby improving market access for products from both countries.

In addition to trade discussions, several agreements were signed between the two nations, including those on investment protection, air transport, and the establishment of a joint investment fund. These agreements aim to foster cooperation in sectors such as energy, mining, tourism, and logistics. An Oman-Kazakhstan Business Council was also established to strengthen business ties.

The leaders underscored the strategic importance of enhancing connectivity between Central Asia and the Gulf region, including plans to establish direct air links between Oman and Kazakhstan. They also focused on expanding cooperation in fields such as energy, digital technology, education, and food security.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the friendly and constructive nature of their bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties across various sectors. Sultan Haitham expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by President Tokayev and invited him to visit Oman, highlighting the ongoing commitment to deepening the partnership between the two countries.
