Oman’s Oil and Gas Sectors Experience Notable Growth in 2026

Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman recorded significant growth in its oil and gas sectors by the end of August 2026. Total oil exports reached 209 million barrels, marking a 1.9 percent increase compared to 205 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

According to Oman News Agency, oil production in Oman also saw substantial growth, with 270 million barrels produced by the end of August 2026, up 11.9 percent from 241.4 million barrels in the previous year. The average daily oil production increased by 10.9 percent, reaching 1.1 million barrels per day compared to 993,300 barrels per day the previous year.

Monthly oil production figures for August reached 36.3 million barrels, surpassing July's 35.8 million barrels and June's 34.4 million barrels. Oil exports in August were 27.1 million barrels, compared to 26.7 million barrels in July and 25.7 million barrels in June.

The average price of Omani oil increased by 15.5 percent from January to the end of August, reaching USD 83.3 per barrel, compared to USD 72.1 per barrel during the same period in 2025. However, the average price in August was USD 79.1 per barrel, a decrease of 22.5 percent compared to July's USD 102 per barrel.

In the natural gas sector, total domestic production and imports rose by 6.4 percent, reaching 40.5 billion cubic meters compared to 38.1 billion cubic meters in 2025. Gas consumption at power generation plants increased by 13.8 percent to 11.7 billion cubic meters, and consumption by industrial projects grew by 4.9 percent, reaching 19.9 billion cubic meters.

Gas consumption in oil fields rose by 1.5 percent to 8.7 billion cubic meters, while consumption in industrial zones decreased by 32.6 percent to 126.0 million cubic meters, down from 186.9 million cubic meters by the end of August 2025.
