Nizwa:The Oman Chanting Festival is set to make a return with its second edition in the Wilayat of Nizwa, A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, scheduled from October 18 to 21, 2026.
According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony of the festival will be graced by Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth earlier announced the selection of 8 vocalists, chosen from an initial pool of 39 participants, who will perform at this year’s event.
The first edition of the festival took place over a decade ago, from October 20 to 21, 2015, also in Nizwa. This festival aims to nurture Omani chanting talent and provide a platform for performers to display their skills to a wider audience.
Building on insights from its inaugural edition, the 2026 festival plans to present a refined artistic landscape, showcasing advancements in performance styles and production techniques, as well as enhancing audience engagement.
