Agriculture Minister and Bassam Tlaiss Discuss National Cannabis Cultivation Plan

Beirut: Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani met with Bassam Tlaiss, President of the Irshad Association for Municipal and Voluntary Training and Development, in the presence of Dr. Dany Fadel, President of the Cannabis Regulatory Authority. The meeting focused on preparations for launching a national plan to legalize and regulate cannabis cultivation in Lebanon. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting underscored the Ministry of Agriculture's pivotal role in spearheading this national initiative. It highlighted the necessity for collaboration among various partners to ensure the plan's success. An expanded meeting has been scheduled for late October, involving municipalities, official bodies, civil and agricultural entities, and other relevant stakeholders. This gathering aims to enhance public awareness of the project and strengthen national collaboration, laying the groundwork for transforming the cannabis sector into a sustainable economic and developmental asset. Minister Hani stated th at the Ministry will develop the legislative and regulatory frameworks needed for the project's success. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive cooperation between the state and society to achieve the economic and developmental objectives envisioned by the plan.
