Muscat: The Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing Forum, held today at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of the "COMEX 2025" exhibition, showcased the latest innovations in AI and quantum computing, reinforcing Oman's position in the global digital economy. According to Oman News Agency, the forum was inaugurated by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology. During the event, three national initiatives were launched under the National Program for AI and Advanced Technologies. The first initiative is the Omani Linguistic Model, "Mueen," an ambitious project to develop an advanced linguistic AI model that reflects the unique characteristics of the Omani language and culture. It aims to support government institutions with smart linguistic applications and build a digital knowledge infrastructure that serves various vital sectors. The second initiative, the Omani AI Studio, is an innovative platform connecting specialists with govern ment, private, and academic institutions to develop practical solutions for operational challenges. The studio will also offer specialized consultations, train and qualify students in the latest fields of AI, and organize workshops and events to raise awareness about the importance of these technologies. Additionally, it will support institutions in adopting AI and creating new business opportunities. The third initiative is the National Open Data Portal, designed to enhance transparency and accountability by making government data accessible to citizens, researchers, and developers in fields such as health, education, the economy, and the environment. The portal will provide an easy-to-use interactive interface and advanced analysis tools to stimulate innovation and research projects. The forum included several sessions and papers on quantum computing, its "probabilities and risks," and the future of AI infrastructure. It also featured a panel discussion on the integration between artificial intelligence a nd quantum computing.
