Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday received, at his Yarzeh office, the Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon, Koen Vervaeke, with whom he discussed the current general situation in Lebanon and the region. Maj. Gen. Aoun later received in his office the General Episcopal Vicar of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Forzol and Zahle, Archimandrite Nicolas Hakim. Various matters featured high on their talks. The Army Commander then received the Director General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission, Gert Jan Koopman. Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as developments along the southern border. Aoun also received the Secretary General of the Tashnag Party, MP Hagop Pakradounian, with whom he broached the current general situation in the country. Maj. Gen. Aoun later received at his Yarzeh office, a delegation from the Armed Forces Retirees Association, headed by retired Major General Nicolas Mezher.
