At Least 14 Dead as Devastating Windstorms Sweep Central, Northern Pakistan

Islamabad: At least 14 people were dead and more than 100 others injured following the devastating windstorms that swept through central and northern Pakistan, after a severe heatwave. According to Oman News Agency, Pakistani officials reported today that most of the fatalities were caused by the collapse of walls and roofs, while at least two individuals died after being struck by solar panels dislodged by intense winds, and one man was killed and three others injured by lightning strikes. They added that the storm, which swept through Islamabad, as well as Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces yesterday (Saturday), uprooted trees and brought down power poles. The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted further windstorms across the country.
