Bahrain shines in athletics, karate, para sports, raising medal count to 20 at ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain

Bahrain continues to amass medals at the International School Sports Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, hosted under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. By the end of day two, Bahrain had added 3 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze medals, bringing its total to 20 medals: 5 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze. Bahrain's athletics team excelled, winning seven medals, including two golds, amid enthusiastic crowds at Bahrain National Stadium. Notably, Raihana Ghorobah claimed gold in the girls' 100m, and Sufin Hasmaw secured gold in the 400m, highlighting the team's growing strength in sprint events. In addition to golds, the team earned three silvers: Ahmed Sabri in boys' high jump, Laila Kamal in the girls' 100m, and Mohammed Al Mudhahi in para discus throw. Abbas Abkar took bronze in the boys' 100m, with Alaa Sami adding a bronze in the 400m, demonstrating the team's balance across categories. In the 200m heats, Bahrain's female athletes delivered strong performances, securing spots in th e finals, including Ayesha Bais, Laila Kamal, Naima Naoumi, Raihana Ghorobah, and Sufin Hasmaw, raising hopes for further successes in the coming days. In karate, Bahraini athletes earned eight medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 6 bronze) at Isa Town's C Hall. In individual events, Sarah Hani won gold in the over 60kg category, while Muhannad Mussa took silver in the over 70kg category. Bronze medals went to Mohamed Ahmed Al Ahmed (over 75kg), Fawzia Al Amiri (over 55kg), Mohamed Hamid (under 55kg), and Dana Mohammed Fazea (under 55kg). In team events, the boys' 14-16 team, Abdullah Al Murbati, Mohamed Hamid, and Ali Ismail, won bronze. The girls' team in the same age category, featuring Fawzia Al Amiri, Dana Mohammed Fazea, and Sarah Hani, also took bronze, continuing Bahrain's strong showing in the championship.
