House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday. welcomed at the second presidency in Ain El-Tineh, former Vice Speaker, Elie Ferzli, with whom he broached the current general situation and the latest political developments. Speaker Berri also received in Ain El-Tineh, a delegation from the Association of Muslim Scholars. Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of Israel's continued aggression against the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon. Speaking on behalf of the delegation on emerging, the head of the Association's Board of Trustees Sheikh Ghazi Hanineh said the meeting with Speaker Berri was an opportunity to discuss the latest developments on the Lebanese and regional arenas, especially what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank. On the other hand, Speaker Berri cabled his Syrian counterpart, Hammouda Sabbagh, congratulating him on his election as Speaker of the Syrian People's Council for a new legislative term. Berri also sent a cable of congratulatio ns to the Prime Minister of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on the occasion of his assumption of his duties as the Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh's interim government.
