“Council of Higher Education Experts” discusses its plan for the next two years

Ramallah- Ma'an- The Higher Education Reform Experts Council, an offshoot of the Erasmus Plus program, held its meeting to discuss its work plan for the next two years (2025 and 2026), in a way that ensures the development of higher education and scientific research sector policies and serves Palestinian national priorities. For his part, the Director of the Erasmus Office in Palestine, Dr. Abdul Karim Daraghmeh, presented a presentation on the priorities of the Experts Council's work plan for the years 2025 and 2026, noting that one of the priorities is to enhance the international presence of Palestinian universities through cooperation with their European counterparts, focus on the social and economic impact of scientific research in Palestinian higher education institutions, support technical education, improve employment opportunities for youth, enhance integrated education programs that combine theoretical education with practical application during the study period, and also enhance e-learning. Darag hmeh pointed out the plan's consistency with Palestinian national priorities and efforts to advance the higher education and scientific research sector, appreciating the partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in terms of integration and coordination to improve educational outcomes; by adopting constructive policies and strategies. For his part, the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Dr. Basri Saleh, stressed the importance of integration between the policies and orientations of the Ministry and the priorities of higher education in Palestine and the activities of the Higher Education Reform Expert Team. He pointed out the Ministry's tireless efforts to network Palestinian universities with their counterparts in various countries of the world, and to provide opportunities for researchers, pointing out the importance of enhancing Palestine's benefit from available international projects to support higher education and scientific research, referring to the steps taken by the Ministry to provide relief to higher education in the Gaza Strip. Saleh touched on the ministry's steps to launch the national research platform, which collects and publishes various Palestinian research, facilitating Palestinian researchers, enhancing communication between them, and presenting their research for local and international benefit. The members of the expert committee provided inputs and ideas to enrich the proposed plan, ensuring the advancement of the Palestinian higher education sector, especially with regard to opening horizons for Palestinian universities and strengthening their partnerships with their European counterparts.
