New York: The US dollar today declined slightly, but remained close to a two-year peak, as traders awaited a series of US economic data this week for further clues on the Federal Reserve's rate outlook. The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six other currencies, dropped slightly to 108.89 points in early trading.
According to Oman News Agency, the Euro was unchanged at 1.0310 dollars, while the British pound rose by 0.13% to 1.2440 dollars. The yen declined by 0.24% to 157.66 per dollar.
The Chinese yuan fell to its lowest level in 16 months in the domestic market, reaching 7.3289 per dollar, while the currency weakened by 0.06% to 7.3558 per dollar in the offshore market.
The Australian dollar was recorded at 0.6227 US dollars in the latest transactions, while the New Zealand dollar rose by 0.22% to 0.56245 US dollars.
