Dollar Holds Steady as US Rate Hike Expectations Subside

Muscat: The dollar maintained its position after the release of US inflation data on Wednesday, which tempered expectations for an immediate interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. The dollar also held its ground against the yen, and is set for a weekly increase of approximately 0.4%.

According to Oman News Agency, the dollar index was steady at 100, indicating a potential weekly rise of around 0.4%. The US currency was trading at 159.44 yen, hovering close to the significant 160 mark.

In other key currency markets, the euro remained stable at $1.1523. Meanwhile, the British pound decreased by 0.05% to $1.3489, the Australian dollar fell by 0.2% to $0.7049, and the New Zealand dollar dropped by 0.4% to $0.5832.
