Educational plan for Gaza students – Mustafa: International efforts and contacts to stop the brutal attack

Ramallah - Ma'an - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa opened the weekly government session on Tuesday by referring to the international efforts and contacts made by President Mahmoud Abbas and the government to stop the ongoing brutal attack on our people in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. In the same context, he pointed out that state institutions are continuing to coordinate with various international bodies to increase the quantities of emergency relief aid, and to pressure the occupation to open more crossings, in addition to bringing in as many fuel shipments as possible to operate water well pumps and sewage pumps in all areas where technical crews are able to work. Mustafa explained that 79 thousand liters of diesel have been brought in since the beginning of the month to operate water wells and sewage pumps, serving 300 thousand people in the northern Gaza Valley area (Gaza, Jabalia, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun), and work is underway to bring in 50 thousand liters of fuel during the coming week. He pointed out that the Water Authority crews maintained the northern water supply line for the second time after it was destroyed by the occupation forces, which provides 20,000 cubic meters of water daily to the most densely populated areas west of Gaza City (Al-Nasr, Sheikh Radwan and Al-Rimal), in addition to following up on work on the central and southern water connections, which provide 30,000 cubic meters of water daily. Mustafa continued: Recently, a shelter center for the displaced was established on the land of the central desalination plant, covering an area of ??80 dunams. Also, a few days ago, the government, represented by the Water Authority, signed an immediate response agreement with UNICEF and the World Bank to provide emergency water needs in the Gaza Strip, worth $7 million. On the other hand, he said that the government, through the Ministry of Social Development, provided emergency financial support to about 10,000 families in the Gaza Strip, out of 45,000 families that will re ceive emergency allocations within days, in addition to disbursing allocations to 29,000 families in the West Bank during the next two weeks. Mustafa pointed out that the government is also working through the Ministry of Labor to disburse the third installment of financial aid to more than 3,600 Gaza workers residing in the West Bank within a few days. The ministry is also implementing a project for employment in exchange for work in the Gaza Strip, which is based on providing job opportunities to employ hundreds of workers to remove solid waste. He stressed that the government is making and continues to make every effort possible to respond to the emergency needs of our people in various regions, especially the areas targeted by daily raids and sabotage, especially reconnecting and rehabilitating water, electricity and road networks, and responding to the need to rent temporary homes to accommodate families whose homes were recently targeted in some camps in the West Bank. Mustafa addressed the high scho ol exam, as the occupation prevented 39,000 students in the Gaza Strip from taking the exam, in addition to the martyrdom of 10,000 students and 400 teachers. He stressed that the government is seeking to compensate students for the school days they missed after the war stopped, as the Ministry of Education is preparing the necessary plans for students in Gaza to complete their studies, and preparations are underway to restore the educational process for about 20,000 students residing in Egyptian territory. Mustafa, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, expressed his appreciation to the teachers, supervisors and staff of the Ministry of Education for their efforts in making the high school exam a success, despite the many challenges and difficulties, most notably the daily raids on most of the cities and camps of the West Bank. He stressed that the government will continue, despite all the difficulties, to implement its programmes and initiatives to improve the quality of services provided to our people w ith all determination and resolve.
