Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the government departments concerned, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Environment Authority are dealing with the incident of a vessel named 'CAROLINE BEZENGI' that ran aground at Al Hallaniyat Islands in the Governorate of Dhofar.
According to Oman News Agency, the Ministry explained that joint action is being undertaken to alleviate potential impacts on the environment. The Ministry and the Environment Authority stated in a joint statement that all specialized technical teams are engaged in monitoring developments, ready to implement necessary procedures in accordance with approved emergency response plans designed to handle potential impacts on the marine environment or navigational safety.
The competent authorities continue the action of observation through satellite images, as well as the outcome of field surveys and technical models, in order to follow up the developments of the situation, assess any potential challenges, and support appropriate decision-making in accordance with the latest developments and ongoing technical assessments.
The statement affirmed that the parties concerned are acting in accordance with approved international standards and practices and in compliance with relevant international laws and agreements. The Ministry and the Environment Authority also affirmed that any updates will be announced through official channels. They urged all those concerned to obtain information from official sources and avoid circulating or publishing undocumented information, so as to contribute to community awareness and support national efforts.
