Emir of Qatar Commences State Visit to Oman

Muscat: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, arrived in the Sultanate of Oman today for a two-day state visit. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik personally led the welcoming party at the Royal Airport. The Sultan greeted Sheikh Tamim at the foot of the aircraft ramp, expressing his well wishes for the Emir and his delegation during their stay in Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the delegation accompanying Sheikh Tamim was received by notable Omani officials, including HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, and Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, among others. The guest's arrival was marked by a squadron of military aircraft from the Royal Air Force of Oman escorting the jet, demonstrating a warm welcome.

Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Tamim proceeded to the hall flanked by the Royal Guard of Oman. After a brief pause, they departed for Al Alam Palace, where official and popular receptions awaited. As their motorcade passed Muscat Gate, the Royal Camel Corps lined the road, and the Royal Cavalry accompanied the leaders, all to the sound of military music.

The courtyard of Al Alam Palace was the site of a grand reception, featuring folklore bands and a twenty-one-gun salute. Once at the Dais of Honour, the National Anthem of Qatar was played, and His Majesty the Sultan introduced Sheikh Tamim to members of the Omani official delegation. Sheikh Tamim, in turn, met with members of the Royal Family and key Omani officials.

The Emir of Qatar is accompanied by an official delegation which includes Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, and other high-ranking officials. The visit aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between Qatar and Oman, fostering cooperation across various sectors.
