South al batinah: The Environment Authority Department in South Al Batinah Governorate today organized a forum on environmental legislation entitled "The Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve: Balancing Tourism and Environmental Compliance." The forum aimed to achieve harmony between tourism development and environmental responsibility. According to Oman News Agency, the forum sought to highlight the importance of the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve as one of the most prominent marine reserves in the Sultanate of Oman. It also aimed to review the laws and regulations governing tourism and environmental activities within the reserve, while raising environmental awareness regarding the importance of conserving its natural resources. The forum featured a number of specialized working papers. These covered the Environment Authority's efforts in managing and protecting the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve, the legislation regulating tourism activities, and the role of the Coast Guard Police in protecting the rese rve and enforcing compliance with marine activity regulations. Additional papers addressed the heritage and tourism assets of the governorate, the key tourism features of the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve as one of Oman's leading ecotourism destinations, as well as trends in visitor numbers and tourism activity within the reserve. The forum also included visual presentations showcasing the natural features of the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve, efforts to protect coral reefs and marine life, as well as initiatives and programmes aimed at conserving and sustaining the marine environment. The forum was held under the patronage of Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah, and was attended by a number of officials, specialists, academics, and representatives from government entities and the private sector.
