Foreign Minister Engages in Diplomatic Talks at UN Assembly

New York:Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met with Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, to enhance their recent joint consultations. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. According to Oman News Agency, the discussions centered on leveraging a memorandum of understanding to establish regular dialogues and explore opportunities for cooperation in sectors like energy, critical minerals, and higher education. Additionally, they aimed to boost trade and investment ties between the two nations. The talks also covered regional developments and ongoing efforts to support de-escalation and political solutions. Both ministers emphasized protecting civilians and ensuring the smooth flow of international navigation and trade to bolster regional and international security. Furthermore, Sayyid Badr engaged in discussions with Dr. Khalilur Rahman, President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. They disc ussed priorities for the current session, seeking to foster consensus among member states to enhance the UN's ability to tackle interconnected crises and promote peaceful solutions. The Foreign Minister reiterated Oman's support for strengthening international cooperation and improving the UN system's performance to meet global needs and aspirations. The meetings highlighted the importance of dialogue, preventive diplomacy, and linking peacebuilding with sustainable development, aiming for enduring stability.
