Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, welcomed Olof Skoog, Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service, for discussions today.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting underscored the robust partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the European Union (EU), with both parties reaffirming their dedication to bolstering cooperation across diplomatic, political, economic, and technical domains.
The dialogue delved into pressing global issues, including the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and the Palestinian situation, with a particular focus on the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. Both sides stressed the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire and emphasized the importance of facilitating access to humanitarian aid in the region.
In addition, discussions touched upon the US-Iranian talks, with the European official lauding Oman's significant role and persistent efforts in facilitating these discussions. There was mutual hope expressed that the talks would lead to enhanced security, stability, and peace.
The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs.
