Foreign Ministers of Oman and Iran Discuss Regional Cooperation and Navigation Safety

Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received today a verbal message from Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This took place when the Foreign Minister received Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Legal and International Affairs, who is currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman along with a diplomatic and legal delegation.

According to Oman News Agency, the message was part of ongoing consultation and cooperation between Oman and Iran. It addressed the Iranian-US talks mediated by Pakistan, focusing on efforts to ensure their success. Additionally, the message highlighted the importance of resuming safe and sustainable navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Following the meeting, both nations convened to discuss principles governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, aligning with international law. Discussions included exchanging views on developments and enhancing capabilities for securing shipping, trade, and supply chains.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, and other officials from both countries.
