Gold Retreats From Two-Week High as Oil Prices Rise

Muscat: Gold prices retreated today from their highest level in two weeks, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices. Spot gold settled at $4,132.01 per ounce after rising to $4,165.87 in the previous session, its highest level since 7 July. US gold futures for August delivery fell 0.4 percent to $4,134.60.

According to Oman News Agency, other precious metals saw varied movements. Spot silver rose 0.3 percent to $59.90 per ounce. Platinum climbed 0.7 percent to $1,656.24, while palladium gained 0.8 percent to $1,301.25.
