Gold Slides as Dollar Firms Ahead of Fed Decision

Muscat: Spot gold prices declined today as the dollar gained ground, while markets awaited the Federal Reserve's upcoming monetary policy decision for signals on the trajectory of interest rates. Spot gold fell 0.7 percent to USD 4,044.81 per ounce, retreating from the previous session's gain of approximately one percent.

According to Oman News Agency, US gold futures for August delivery dropped 0.8 percent to USD 4,045.40. Among other precious metals, spot silver declined 1.9 percent to USD 57.30 per ounce, platinum fell one percent to USD 1,605.14, and palladium shed 1.6 percent to reach USD 1,271.09.
