Al Buraimi:The Department of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Al Buraimi Governorate is organizing an event titled 'Waqf 91' (Endowment 91). The initiative aims to foster innovation in developing investment of endowment assets and devising sustainable urban solutions that combine economic returns with community services.
According to Oman News Agency, the hackathon targets various educational institutions, including Al Buraimi University, Al Buraimi College, the Vocational College in Al Buraimi, and Sohar University. These institutions are being tested on their ability to present comprehensive design concepts for the development of a 6,821-square-meter endowment plot in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi. The hackathon aligns with the Department's strategy to expand endowment assets and revenues while supporting the goals of 'Oman Vision 2040'.
Participants are encouraged to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, adhering to standards of sustainability, economic feasibility, and Omani architectural identity. The hackathon provides a platform for participants to convert innovative ideas into practical proposals that contribute to the growth of endowment resources and the consolidation of the role of endowments in economic and social development.
The event will conclude with the evaluation of the proposed projects under the supervision of a jury that will select the winning teams.
