Beirut: Officials and representatives from the Baalbek-Hermel region convened at the House of Parliament with Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodor and several stakeholders to address the issue of displacement. The meeting focused on the ongoing challenges and potential solutions for handling the influx of displaced individuals in the region. According to National news agency - Lebanon, MP Hussein Hajj Hassan highlighted the significance of discussing the displacement issue and the need for a continued collective approach. He expressed gratitude to political, religious, municipal, and social authorities for their unified efforts in managing the situation, emphasizing the high level of national engagement. The meeting specifically addressed the situation in Baalbek-Hermel, acknowledging the contributions of the Union of Municipalities of Deir al-Ahmar and residents from various villages such as Ras Baalbek, Al-Qaa, Hadath Baalbek, and Arsal for their support in welcoming displaced persons. Hajj Hassan noted that the number of displaced individuals in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate is dynamic, with approximately 60,000 people spread across different villages. He stressed the importance of daily updates on this matter and discussed the necessity of re-establishing the crisis cell in the governorate. The lawmaker emphasized finding a secure location for this crisis management team to operate effectively. Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding financial resources, with Hajj Hassan pointing out that government expenditures on the displacement issue remain minimal, calling for more substantial support to address the ongoing challenges effectively.
