The Steering Committee tasked with following up the development of Oman's Healthcare Model today held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Planning and Organization. The committee discussed proposals on drawing a roadmap for implementing executive initiatives and programmes that would help realize the objectives of the healthcare model. The meeting elaborated on the healthcare model, deemed as a basic component of health strategies in Oman Vision 2040. The committee accords attention to the specific criteria: (1) Designing the model's services based on understanding of community members' desires and needs; (2) Making necessary changes in the healthcare services system; (3) Establishing a collaborative, participatory environment with strategic objectives aimed at building a human-cantered care; (4) Making individuals and their families partners in maintaining their own health; and (5) Realizing all levels of healthcare r equired by the community within one uniform healthcare system. The meeting also aimed to bridge gaps and address challenges facing the health sector, with the prime aim of establishing a society that enjoys sustainable health. Source: Oman News Agency
