Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation today announced the four projects shortlisted to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2025, scheduled to be held in the Swiss city of Geneva from 9 to 13 April 2025.

According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, the Ministry's Research and Innovation Undersecretary, stated that Oman's participation in the event aims to showcase individual innovations implemented by the Ministry. He emphasized that Omani youth possess the potential to compete in both local and global innovation contests.

The four projects selected to represent Oman include a cleaning and sterilization system for air-conditioning by Mahmoud Al Hinai. This project highlights a significant advancement in improving air quality and hygiene. Layan Al Rahbi developed a language application designed to bridge the communication gap between the deaf and mute community and the rest of society, potentially transforming how communication is facilitated.

Another notable innovation is by Dr. Huda Ali Al Hosni, who created an application named 'Scientific Traveller.' This application provides alternative visions for some natural tourist sites in Oman, potentially enhancing the tourism experience while promoting environmental awareness.

Lastly, Mu'ayad Sameer Al Balushi devised an SOS salvage system for fishing boats, offering an innovative solution to enhance maritime safety and ensure the wellbeing of fishermen in the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC region. These projects collectively underscore the innovative spirit and technical expertise present in Oman's youth.
