Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued two Royal decrees that initiate significant changes within the Sultanate of Oman's diplomatic appointments.
According to Oman News Agency, Royal Decree No. 33/2025 involves several key placements within the Diplomatic Corps. Article (1) transfers HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki bin Mahmoud Al Said, who has been serving as the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the General Diwan of the Foreign Ministry. Article (2) details the transfer of Talal bin Sulaiman bin Habib Al Rahbi from his position as the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to Brazil to become the Ambassador to the United States of America. It also involves the appointment of Abdulghafar bin Abdulkarim bin Issa Al Balushi as the Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil, following his tenure as Ambassador to Bangladesh.
Furthermore, Article (3) appoints Sayyid Najib bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi as the new Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and as the Permanent Representative to both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Digital Cooperation Organization in Riyadh. Article (4) bestows the title of ambassador on Thamir bin Fayez bin Khalfan Al Alawi, appointing him as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain. Article (5) states that this decree is to be published in the Official Gazette and is effective immediately.
Royal Decree No. 34/2025 focuses on the appointment of a Non-resident Ambassador. Article (1) appoints Issa bin Saleh bin Abdullah Al Shaibani, the current Ambassador to the Republic of India, as the Non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bhutan. Article (2) also mandates the publication of this decree in the Official Gazette, with immediate enforcement from the date of issue.
